Reading Coins

Small disks made of Sion metal. They typically have square holes in their centers, through which strings or chains are threaded so the coins can be worn around the neck. Au'Kael use them to conduct Readings. This is done by tosssing them on the ground or in the air, catching them, and interpreting the sequence of combinations of how the faces land. Through this, they discern or predict certain variables about the world and courses of events around them.

It is not, as many believe, a way to see into the future, a practice the Au'Kael themselves derisively call 'skrying'. Instead, they say it is more a way to understand the pattern of the world and how best to fit into that pattern. (I Ching)
