La Bucca

  1. puffed cheek
  2. (Vulgar Latin) mouthful
  3. (Vulgar Latin) mouth
Usage notes

Already used with the sense of 'mouth' by Cicero in a private letter (although it was even then not considered to be a word to be used in literary contexts), indicating that the replacement of ōs by this term in colloquial ('Vulgar') Latin was already well underway in the first century BC.
