1951-09-14: Cheney’s new city building at the corner of Second and D streets is expected to be ready for occupancy by October 1, according to reports given to the city council.

Here shown is the scene that greets the visitor as he enters the main doors of the new Cheney City Light Department building. The steps, flanked by stone-faced flower wells, lead from the main lobby to a shorter flight of stairs, at the right, to the entrance of the auditorium. The large window shown above the stairs give one a view directly into the auditorium. The window's attractive gray curtains had not yet been hung when this picture was taken.
