Nabisco Announces Loading Port Addition
Cheney Planning Commission members Monday night heard plans by Bil Epperson of Nabisco Brands Foods to expand its present facility.
Planners gave their consent to a down-zoning of the area behind the Anderberg Chevrolet building from C-1 to C-3 to allow for a new truck loading shed. Epperson noted that the shed will enable the mill to load animal feed products and human cereal products into trucks without having the products blown by the wind. Currently, trucks are loaded outside.
"We do have a real problem when the wind blows out there," said Epperson.
Epperson said that engineering of the steel and metal shed would be done this winter so that construction could take place next summer.
The zoning change now will go before the City Council.
