Winner's Circle
Cheney Business Changes Hands
The Winner's Circle (formerly Eddy's Boot & Tack) is now open in downtown Cheney and ready to serve the needs of the community.
Owners Wayne and RIta Zorrozua-Brokaw will continue to sell western wear and tack items for both western and English sadle buffs. As before, the store will alos continue its cobbler shop and shoe repair business, which includes the production of a complete line of pack saddles and gear for the more rugged adventurers.
Now to the store will be a line of collectable dolls, as well as antique furniture for sale.
Originally from the Dakota territory, Wayne has spent his spare time this past year working for Bob Stengle and John Bruce families, learning the trade. Krys Stengle will remain with the business, working one day per week in the downtown store.
Rita, a native of Yakima and a 1970 graduate of Eastern Washington University, said they had always wanted to live in Cheney. The couple met in Issaquah and moved to Spokane four years ago.
Rita is employed with the Spokane Community Mental Health Center. Wayne has been the Eastern Washington Coordinator for AFSCME, COuncil AFL-CIO in labor relations work. Formally trained in labor relations at Seattle University, he still does some consulting on the side.
In Cheney, the couple is enjoying a more relaxed lifestyle and have joined the St. Rose of Lima parish. Living a few miles out of town, they enjoy raising horses and Old English sheep dogs. They have a two-year-old daughter, Camerina, as well.
