"Worthy of Death"

Christian Encouragement May 23, 2000 Hi friends! If any of you tend to be speed-readers, I suggest you save it for TV Guide and read this one slowly. I'm going to quote parts of 3 scriptures found in Matthew, and one in Isaiah. Then I would like for you to close your eyes and picture the scene and the sounds. Take your time on this one before scrolling down. Matt. 26:66,67 ----- "What do you think?" "He is worthy of death," they answered. Then they spit in His face and struck Him their fists. Others slapped Him... Matt.27:28-31 ----- "...they stripped Him....twisted a crown of thorns and put it on His head....put a staff in His right hand....then took the staff and struck Him on the head AGAIN and AGAIN....Then they led him away to crucify Him...." Isaiah 52:14 ------ "...His appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any man and His form marred beyond human likeness....." Could you see it? Could you hear it? Who didn't have to wipe their face? This is the same Jesus who has been holding my hand when I'm afraid since I was a child. The same Jesus who comforts me when I grieve. The same Jesus who stayed with me through the "black hole of depression" years ago. The same Jesus who says, 'I forgive you" every time I sin against Him. The same Jesus whose beautiful face I seek in prayer....... THIS is the same Jesus Christ who is LORD OF LORDS, and KING OF KINGS. When He comes back, NO ONE will be spitting on Him. NO ONE will beat and tear the flesh of His back with countless bone fragments from a whip. NO ONE will be slapping His face and NO ONE will EVER bash Him on the head again! "Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, "that at the name of JESUS every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, "and every tongue confess that JESUS CHRIST is LORD, to the glory of God the Father." Philippians 2:10,11 Isaiah said His face and body were so marred He was unrecognizable. One thing I am sure of....when I see Him, I WILL know Him. When you finish reading this, tell Jesus "Thank You", and if the words don't come out, it's okay. He already knows. With Love in Jesus Christ, our magnificent and faithful Friend, Debbie Reed-Parman
