Malachi 1:12

12 But you [priests] profane [antonym of Holy] it when [by your actions] you say, The table of the Lord is polluted, and the fruit of it, its food, is contemptible and may be despised.

    • But you...In comparison to true worship.
    • The etymological derivation of the English word “profane,” from pro fanum, means “outside the temple.” It refers to that which is common, not set apart to God. Ross, Allen P..     • They’d lost sense of the VALUE of doing things God’s way.
    • This loss of value lead to their sloppiness in doing things God’s way.
        ◦ Again, their actions betraying what was going on in their heads.
