Hearing
Your ears don't work alone. Cognitive processing shapes how and what we hear. After sound waves travel through the ear canal, tiny hair cells in the cochlea convert vibrations to electrical signals sent to the brain (the thalamus and auditory cortex to be exact 🤓). The brain then does a lot of work to identify relevant sounds and filter out background noise.
