Metric-mapped accreditation self-study documents
Example accreditation self-study documents have been included to show how the claims in the documents can be supported by evidence and as a source of new metrics for the library. The thought title is composed of the name of the accrediting body, type (decennial, interim periodic, etc.) and year of the self-study. The examples are typed (clickable) according to Carnegie institutional classification and tagged (clickable) by Carnegie size and sector to make it easy to find comparible institutions.
The documents have been converted to TheBrain notes to enable embedded links to metrics within the concept map; formatting/layout may therefore be different to the original. Material referencing the institution’s name, location, personnel, etc., has been replaced with generic terms such as “The Institution” to protect identity as these are considered highly confidential documents. In addition, much of the ancilliary material has been removed from each document.
Each document was analyzed by a reviewer for the metrics used and those that could have been used to support claims. In many cases more that one metric applied and links are therefore shown a numbers next to each claim. These metrics represent evidence that the institution provided and/or the reviewer believes could have be used to support the statement. It should not be assumed that reviewers have any affiliation with the institution.
When an embedded link is clicked the associated metric and all its mappings are displayed in the concept map. The note for the metric is also displayed in the notes window. The note may list links to other locations in the self-study where the metric was used as evidence and/or to other self-study examples. To return to your original location in the self-study document click on the back button (left arrow) in the top left menu. Clicking on the title of the self-study should also return you to your location in the self-study document.
Metrics that have been cited as supportive evidence in a self-study are tagged as “See accreditation use examples in backlink section of note”. To view an extract of the relevant area of the study with a link to the document navigate to backlink section of the metric’s note.
