Homeostasis
Homeostasis refers to the ability of an organism to maintain its internal environment within limits that allow it to survive. It is a self-regulating process that returns critical systems of the body to a set point within a narrow range of operation, consistent with survival of the organism.1 Homeostasis isthe state of steady internal, physical, chemical, and social conditions maintained by living systems. It includes many variables, such as body temperature and fluid balance, being kept within certain pre-set limits.2 Homeostasis is not static and unvarying; it is a dynamic process that can change internal conditions as required to survive external challenges.0 If homeostasis is successful, life continues; if it's unsuccessful, it results in a disaster or death of the organism.3
