Nikola Tesla

Nikola Tesla was a Serbian-American inventor and engineer born on July 9/10, 1856, in Smiljan, Croatia.01

He was a bright student with a photographic memory, a wild imagination, and a love of poetry.0

Tesla made dozens of breakthroughs in the production, transmission, and application of electric power, including the first alternating current (AC) motor and developed AC generation and transmission technology.1

He discovered and patented the rotating magnetic field, the basis of most alternating-current machinery.0

Although he was famous and respected, he was never able to translate his copious inventions into long-term financial success, unlike his early employer and chief rival, Thomas Edison.1
