Diffusing Essential Oils for Respiratory Illness

When using essential oils in a diffuser, we don’t need to be concerned about the three doshas because its a Tridoshic (working on all constitutions) treatment. For example, in a respiratory condition with a classic Vata person (who tends to be thin, cold, dry constitution, a tendency to sympathetic nervous system over stimulation)... and at the other end of the spectrum, someone with a Kapha constitution (slow metabolism, hypothyroid type, dampness, stagnation)... it isn’t necessary to diagnose according to the doshas when it comes to the mechanism behind how the oils affect the respiratory system. We don’t have to look so much at someone’s constitution since these oils (such as Eucalyptus) have a localized decongestant, expectorant, mucolytic effect.

Since the oils are entering through the olfactory / respiratory system we don’t have to go through the same level of diagnostic complexity as we do when taking herbs or other agents.
