- ¼–½ cup filtered water

Based on the Cashew Pine Nut Spread from Ground Leaf
🔥 Instructions
- Prep the cashews
Soak cashews in water for 4–6 hours (or boil for 20 minutes if short on time). Drain.
- Blend
Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender or food processor. Start with ¼ cup water and blend until smooth, adding more water as needed for desired consistency.
- Taste & adjust
Add more lemon juice or miso for tang, or more pine needles for a stronger forest note. Blend again.
- Chill & serve
Refrigerate for 1–2 hours to let flavors meld. Serve with crackers, roasted veggies, or as a sandwich spread.
🌲 Pine Needle Notes
- Use young, tender needles from edible species like Eastern white pine.
- Avoid yew, ponderosa pine, or Norfolk Island pine—they’re toxic.
- Chop finely or pulse with a bit of flour before blending to avoid stringiness.
💡 twist:
- Add fermented tomato powder or adaptogens like tulsi for functional flair.
- Pair with wild greens pakora, sourdough turmeric bread, or savory spruce scones.
