Kava Chai
Here’s a cozy, calming twist on traditional chai—Kava Chai, a caffeine-free blend that combines the relaxing effects of kava with the warming spices of masala chai. Perfect for winding down after a day of fermentation experiments or philosophical rabbit holes 🧘♀️.
🌿 Kava Chai Recipe (Serves 2)
🧂 Ingredients
- 2 tbsp organic kava kava root (powdered or micronized)
- 1 tbsp classic chai blend (or use loose spices: cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, clove, black pepper)
- 1¼ cups hot water (not boiling—around 140–160°F / 60–70°C)
- 1 small can coconut cream, warmed
- 2 scoops collagen powder (optional, for body and protein)
- 2 scoops vanilla MCT powder (optional, for richness and brain fuel)
- Sweetener to taste (maple syrup, honey, or monk fruit)
🔥 Instructions
- Steep the chai: Combine chai spices and kava in a tea infuser or directly in a bowl. Pour hot water over and steep for 10–30 minutes. The longer, the stronger.
- Blend it up: Strain the tea and pour into a blender. Add coconut cream, collagen, MCT powder, and sweetener.
- Froth & serve: Blend until frothy and smooth. Pour into mugs and garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg if desired.
💡 Tips
- Kava is best consumed without caffeine, so skip black tea and stick with rooibos or herbal chai bases.
- If using micronized kava, no straining is needed—just stir or blend thoroughly.
- Want to amplify the grounding effect? Add a pinch of ashwagandha or tulsi.
