FMNH2
FMNH2 is the reduced form of flavin mononucleotide (FMN).
It's also known as FMNH or reduced FMN.
FMNH2 is a cofactor and a metabolite of Escherichia coli.
It's a substrate of the enzyme FMN reductase, which catalyzes the chemical reaction FMNH2 + NAD(P)+ <=> FMN + NAD(P)H + H+.
FMNH2 is a member of the flavin nucleotides class of organic compounds. Flavin nucleotides are nucleotides that contain a flavin moiety, which is a compound that contains the tricyclic isoalloxazine ring system.
FMNH2 has the following properties:
- Chemical formula: C17H21N4O9P
- Molecular weight: 456.35 Daltons
- Substrate of the enzyme FMN reductase
- Stable over the 0.85-12.95 pH range
- Conjugate acid of a FMNH2(2-) and a FMNH2(3-)
FMNH2 is used to restore riboflavin in anemia, migraine, alcoholism, and hyperhomocysteinemia.
