Evolution Favors New Epidemic Diseases of “Intermediate” Severity

Infectious disease outbreaks could indeed be the result of infection by a virus whose virulence has altered as a result of replicating in a nutritionally deficient host so that a non-virulent virus becomes a pathogen due to changes in its genome ^[R]. The steady emergence of new strains of pathogen RNA viruses with new pathogenic properties, such as CoV, could be facilitated via increased mutation rates in micronutrient-deprived populations ^[R]. Micronutrient deficiency could lead to increased opportunities for viral mutations through the host cell permissiveness for viral replication as well as the enhancement of oxidative damages to the RNA genome ^[R]. The epidemic of peripheral neuropathy in Cuba and the facilitated crossing over of HIV in Africa could be explained by the emergence of virulent mutated RNA viruses in the population with micronutrient deficiency [R, R, R].

Let’s not forget all the politicians who have been actively dismantling our healthcare system, the shortage of testing kits, and the economic inequality of globalization that’s falling on the working people of this country who must stay home without an income. And the chaos in the airports from poorly planned policies causing more exposure to contagion, etc.

These are all issues that we should have resolved with long ago, to strengthen ourselves collectively. But, if we can’t do this together, Nature will resolve these problems for us. We’re seeing a rapid change in social, medical and political priorities as the pandemic unfolds.

2500 years ago, the Ayurvedic physician, Charaka, wrote that “The cause of epidemics is government corruption.” He described the exact mechanism and series of events that lead from political corruption to epidemics. He said that when governments become corrupt, they lie to the people and mislead them. By being misled, people abandoned the spiritual ways of living in harmony with Nature and take up unhealthy lifestyles. Unhealthy lifestyles, in turn, begin to generate heat toxins which contaminate the atmosphere. The contamination of the atmosphere causes disruption in the weather which then leads to irregular rainfall, resulting in droughts and floods. Disruption of rainfall patterns leads to disruption of food production, which leads to hunger and malnutrition. Hunger and malnutrition lead to immunological weakness. The population becomes susceptible and vulnerable to epidemics of infectious diseases.

As long as the health of the biosphere continues to deteriorate, human health will also deteriorate.
