NFE2L2

NFE2L2, also known as Nrf2, is a gene that encodes a transcription factor protein. This protein regulates the expression of antioxidant proteins that protect against oxidative damage triggered by injury and inflammation.

NFE2L2 is a member of a family of leucine zipper proteins. It binds to the antioxidant response element (ARE), thereby activating the expression of genes involved in the response to different cellular insults, such as oxidative stress.

Diseases associated with NFE2L2 include:

Micro RNAs species reported to suppress NFE2L2 expression include:

miR-27a, miR-28, miR-34a, miR-93, miR-142-5p, miR-144, miR-153

Nuclear factor erythroid‐derived 2‐like 2 (NFE2L2, Nrf2) mediates exercise‐induced mitochondrial biogenesis and the anti‐oxidant response in mice

Aqueous extract of Glycyrrhiza inflata inhibits aggregation by upregulating PPARGC1A and NFE2L2-ARE pathways in cell models of spinocerebellar ataxia 3.
