Dioscin

Dioscin and related steroidal glycosides are also found in the fruits of Puncture Vine (Tribulus terrestris), which has traditionally been used as a sexual/hormonal tonic and aphrodisiac. Animal studies show that this herb increases levels of androgens including testosterone and dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA); the saponins are thought to contribute to this effect. Ethanolic extracts of Tribulus fruits have also demonstrated broad-spectrum antibacterial activity and antifungal activity against Candida albicans. (-Ganora)
