<b >Coxsackievirus B and echovirus infection</b>. If your tests indicate you have an active infection with one or more enteroviruses of the coxsackievirus B or echovirus species, then Dr John Chia has found (via his&nbsp;<a href="http://forums.phoenixrising.me/index.php?threads/i-start-to-relapse-every-time-i-come-off-equilibrant.40479/#post-650624" target="blank" rel="nofollow" >informal study</a>) that around 30% of people will make major improvements with an immunomodulator called&nbsp;<b >oxymatrine</b>.<a href="http://forums.phoenixrising.me/index.php?threads/seeing-dr-john-chia-on-friday-what-questions-should-i-ask.49595/page-2#post-819393" target="blank" rel="nofollow" >1</a>&nbsp;Though Dr Chia suggests that patients with autoimmune tendencies should not take oxymatrine, as there is a risk oxymatrine may trigger rheumatoid arthritis — more info&nbsp;<a href="http://forums.phoenixrising.me/index.php?threads/why-is-equilibriant-oxymartine-not-recommended-in-patients-with-autoimmunity.49099/#post-809359" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" >here</a>.<br />

<br />

Dr Chia has formulated his own brand of oxymatrine called&nbsp;<a href="https://equilibranthealth.com/" rel="nofollow" target="blank" >Equilibrant</a>, but there is also&nbsp;<a href="https://www.google.com/search?q=White+Tiger+oxymatrine" target="blank" >White Tiger oxymatrine</a>, and&nbsp;<a href="http://alternativemedicinesolution.com/oxymatrine/" target="blank" rel="nofollow" >Alternative Medicine Solutions oxymatrine</a>, which work with similar efficacy. Once the benefits of oxymatrine have manifested, Dr Chia says men can stop taking it after 3 to 6 months, but women usually have to continue taking oxymatrine, otherwise they relapse and get worse again.<a href="http://forums.phoenixrising.me/index.php?threads/much-worse-after-short-course-of-equilibrant.45119/#post-733541" target="blank" rel="nofollow" >1</a>&nbsp;Dr Chia sometimes adds&nbsp;<b >rifampin</b>&nbsp;(also called rifampicin) to boost the effects of oxymatrine.<a href="http://quixoticmeblog.blogspot.com/2013/03/summary-of-4th-appointment-with-dr-c.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" >1</a>&nbsp;<br />

<br />

More info on oxymatrine:&nbsp;<a href="http://phoenixrising.me/archives/814" rel="nofollow" target="blank" >Dr Chia: Oxymatrine</a>,&nbsp;<a href="http://phoenixrising.me/archives/865" rel="nofollow" target="blank" >Oxymatrine, Autoimmunity, ME/CFS and FM</a>,&nbsp;<a href="http://quixoticmeblog.blogspot.com/search/label/Equilibrant" rel="nofollow" target="blank" >Quixotic: Equilibrant</a>,&nbsp;<a href="http://forums.phoenixrising.me/index.php?threads/i-start-to-relapse-every-time-i-come-off-equilibrant.40479/#post-650624" target="blank" rel="nofollow" >Invest in ME 2010 conference transcript</a>,&nbsp;<a href="http://forums.phoenixrising.me/index.php?threads/much-worse-after-short-course-of-equilibrant.45119/#post-733498" target="blank" rel="nofollow" >oxymatrine effects</a>,&nbsp;<a href="http://forums.phoenixrising.me/index.php?threads/what-are-the-commonly-available-immune-modulators.33847/page-3#post-525111" target="blank" rel="nofollow" >immunomodulators info</a>.<br />

<br />

Dr Chia often adds the antiviral&nbsp;<b >lamivudine</b>&nbsp;(Epivir) 150 mg twice daily to patients' medications,<a href="http://www.healthrising.org/blog/2014/02/18/this-really-happening-one-year-dr-chia-chronic-fatigue-syndrome-patient-reports/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" >1</a>&nbsp;but note that Epivir has no effect against echoviruses EV6 and EV7.&nbsp;<br />

<br />

Dr Chia has also used&nbsp;<b >intravenous interferon</b>&nbsp;therapy for ME/CFS patients with enterovirus infections (cost $15,000); many patients went into full remission after this therapy, but unfortunately tended to relapse after around 4 to 14 months, so this is not a permanent cure, but perhaps an encouraging result.<a href="http://www.jrnlappliedresearch.com/articles/Vol4Iss2/Chia2-Jar-spring.pdf" rel="nofollow" target="blank" >1</a>&nbsp;More info:&nbsp;<a href="http://phoenixrising.me/treating-cfs-chronic-fatigue-syndrome-me/immune/antivirals-and-immunemodulators/treating-chronic-fatigue-syndrome-mecfs-interferon" rel="nofollow" target="blank" >Chia's Interferon Therapy</a>. Note that Dr Chia found interferon does not work for ME/CFS linked to coxsackievirus B4.<a href="http://forums.phoenixrising.me/index.php?threads/enteroviruses-revisted.14478/page-4#post-784105" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" >1</a></p>
