William and Robert Ahmanson, savings-and-loan industry millionaires who were family friends of the Urosevich brothers, poured capital into AIS in 1979.These AIS financiers were older cousins of Howard Ahmanson Jr., a Christian Reconstructionist who used his fortune to fund extreme right-wing politics and would later sit on the Council for National Policy.
