View
As used in this brain:
"View" is the understanding or way of seeing that orients practice. It clarifies how things are (emptiness, dependent arising, Buddha-nature, rigpa, etc.) so that meditation and conduct don’t reinforce confusion.
Chandrakīrti and Bankei
- Chandrakīrti: articulates view analytically — dependent arising, lack of svabhāva, the middle way that avoids both eternalism and nihilism.
- Bankei: articulates view in plain language, as the immediately present Unborn mind that is not produced, not ceasing, and already complete.
They intersect in pointing to a way of seeing where no solid, independent self or thing can be found — but the style is different:
- Candrakīrti: conceptual clarification and refutation of wrong views.
- Bankei: direct pointing to how experience already is when we "don’t leave the Unborn."
