The fundamental point of the practice of Dzogchen, called tregchöd [also khregs chod] or "release of tension," is to relax into the state of contemplation, while the way of remaining in this state is called chogshag [cog bzhag or chogzhag], "leaving as it is."
- Tregchöd/Trekcö (khregs chod) → "cutting through" or "cutting through hardness/solidification"
- It is a cutting through the knot of ma rig pa
- A direct seeing that whatever arises is empty, luminous, and ungraspable
- chogshag → "let it be," "settle as it is," "leave it just as it is"
So in a compact formulation: khregs chod is the breakthrough; chogshag is the noninterference of remaining.
- machöpa → "not corrected" or "not altered"
"...Dzogchen atiyoga is a path complete in itself."
Practice: contemplation – to relax.
