FIRST ESSENTIAL POINT
Direct Experience in One's True Nature is the First Essential Point [a foundation??]
SECOND ESSENTIAL POINT
Being clear it is this is the Second Essential Point.
- In a state of recognition (the natural mode), all thought from anger to happiness does not linger.
- Whatever arises nourishes the naked empty awareness.
- All movement is the energy of the supreme natural mode.
- Without this, meditation is a means to delusion.
- In the natural mode, mediation is not needed
THIRD ESSENTIAL POINT
At Ease in the Fact of Liberation is the Third Essential Point.
Patrul Rinpoche's Commentary on his own Text
The view is infinite vastness - Longchenpa Rabjam
- If you practice from the understand that all the root and lineage gurus are not different from your own mind, then the view, mediation, and conduct will also be included in this practice (142).
- The vastness (Klong-Chen) of the actuality of the buddha-nature,
- Spaciousness free from all interpretations,
- The infinity (Rab-'Byams) of all appearances of samsara and nirvana, are all complete within the equality of actuality,
- This is the view (see Longchen quote above).
- The view is free of all interpretation, one examines and decides on emptiness.
- The union of emptiness and compassion.
- From having the view and meditation comes the practice of the six paramitas to benefit others (bodhisattvas).
- He says to achieve liberation in this life, you must live in a isolated hermitage.
- Keep your mind relaxed.
- Meditative balance and subsequent experience are without difference (cf. this to Dogen's enlightenment is zazen).
- If you not gained stability, abandon social stimuli and keep practice near to you.
