Nihilism??

Why nihilism doesn’t follow (and why Mipham isn’t worried)

Here’s where many people tense up.

“If nothing is grounded, isn’t everything meaningless?”

Mipham’s response is quietly devastating:

Meaninglessness would require meaning to fail.

But meaning was never a thing to begin with.

Meaning happens.

Value happens.

Suffering happens.

Liberation happens.

None of these require essence.

Nihilism is just another theory trying to say what really is.

Candrakīrti doesn’t replace realism with nihilism.

He removes the need to explain why experience is allowed to occur.

Things happen because they happen.

They stop because they stop.

Nothing missing.

Nothing added.

The relief you’ve been feeling?

This is where it comes from. 😌
