Start with a reflective exercise
Finding your starting point
Sometimes we don't know exactly where to begin. In order to support you at this stage, we've offered a reflective exercise to help bring some understanding about what you might be trying to learn about your system.
On your own, or with a group, reflect on your situation:
Step 1:
● The context: who is involved, what are you working through (problem, issues, challenge)?
● What are you trying to do: plan/act/manage?
● What are you trying to achieve?
● What is making the task difficult?
Step 2:
Given your context, and the issue you’re trying to learn about, try to reframe this as a question. It may be helpful to consider, what is the thing you want to better understand in order to move forward in your work?
You can write this as a “How might we understand...” statement.
You can now use this question to help guide you in the next stage of the journey.
