Living While BlackMultimedia Resources
This "Living While Black" Mini-Brain began with the idea of videos documenting the daily experiences of African Americans. This library pulls together videos and radio stories describing examples of situations black Americans find themselves in every day. Nor does it cover much more complicated questions of discrimination and racism in the United States.
Click on any of the thoughts, and you'll see videos (primarily) relevant to that point. Click on a video or news story thought to watch the video or click through to the news story. You can watch the video in the Notes field.
What's the point of this exercise? Good question. We're interested in the question of whether information can be organized to influence thinking about complicated topics, like racism, as opposed to simply deluging people with infinite piece-meal information. In this case many people in the U.S. believe that racial discrimination and animus are now behind us, that we live in a leveled playing field world when it comes to race in the United States. Can a pattern of information as shown here help influence thinking?
This is one very small example of the way that information can quickly be organized to reach out to a particular audience, or an audience interested in a particular topic. We're happy for suggestions of how you think the information could be better organized, and what else you'd like to see organized here.
