Thich Nhat Hanh

Thích Nhất Hạnh defined mindfulness as "the energy that sheds light on all things and all activities, producing the power of concentration, bringing forth deep insight and awakening."[53]

Another Zen-influence was Thích Nhất Hạnh, a "reform-minded modernist Buddhist"[122] Vietnamese monk who studied in the USA in the early 1960s, exiled to France in 1967, and started teaching Zen-meditation to westerners in the 1970s.[123]

Thích Nhất Hạnh belonged to the Vietnamese Thiền tradition, which is also influenced by Theravada Buddhism.[122]
