Reply back to Lary again but for sync failed in the cloud #98828

Hello Lary,

Thank you for sending the log file, and for your patience with everything this week. I know this has been dragging on, especially while you are preparing for surgery, so I want to move this forward as cleanly as possible.

I have received your Output.log and I’m reviewing it now so we can pinpoint exactly which item is causing the “not syncing in the cloud” warning. Once I’ve identified the specific attachment or entry the desktop is getting stuck on, I will follow up with the exact name and the safest way to fix it (usually a simple rename or removal from the Brain, then a fresh sync).

In the meantime, here is the list of characters and patterns that are most likely to cause sync problems, especially for file attachments and some cloud operations:

Best to avoid in filenames and attachments:

Those are the classic “forbidden on Windows/Macos” characters, and anything that passes through cloud storage or cross-platform paths can choke on them.

It is also safer to avoid:

If you stick to letters, numbers, spaces, dashes, underscores, and parentheses in attachment names, you’ll almost never run into trouble.

Once I finish reviewing your log, I’ll get back to you with:

  1. The exact item that is blocking sync (if the log shows it clearly), and
  2. The confirmed next step to clear the conflict so your iPad and desktop are fully in sync again.

Thank you again for bearing with us on this, and I genuinely hope everything goes smoothly with your surgery. I’ll follow up as soon as I’ve finished going through the log in detail.

Best regards,

John
