Cloud Brains Open on Web but Show Local Database Missing/Corrupted #101255

https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/101255

Hello Horton,

Thank you for the detailed explanation.

Since Life Sciences Courses and Gospel Study still open normally in the Web Client, that is a good sign that the cloud copies are intact. The error in the desktop app appears to be pointing to a local repository/registration problem on the Mac, rather than the cloud Brains being gone.

Please do not delete the Brains from TheBrain or from the Web Client. Also, please do not manually delete the local Brain folders yet. If we need to reset the local copies, we would want to do that by renaming/moving local data safely rather than deleting anything.

Could you please send your Output.log right after trying to open one of the affected Brains in TheBrain 15?

You can find it here:

Main Menu > Help > Open Log Directory

Then attach the file named:

Output.log

Also, please confirm:

  1. Are Life Sciences Courses and Gospel Study fully visible and usable at https://app.thebrain.com?
  2. Do either of those two Brains have any local-only changes on the Mac that are not already synced to the cloud?
  3. Are the three working Brains still opening normally in the desktop app after the error appears for the two affected Brains?

Once we have the log, we can advise the safest way to make TheBrain 15 forget only the stale local copies/registration and download fresh copies from the cloud without touching the remote Brains.

Best regards,

John
