2fa Questions and Brain Files Accessibility #97864

https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/97864

Hello,

I’m glad to hear you were able to coordinate with Sales and make progress.

You’re correct that since you have the full Brain folders locally, you’ll always have access to the data itself, meaning you can see and copy the files inside (like notes.md and attachments). However, TheBrain application itself will still require you to log in to open and work with those Brains. Without signing in, you won’t be able to make changes, link thoughts, or sync them.

Two-factor authentication (2FA) only affects access to your cloud account and the ability to open Brains in the app. It doesn’t affect your raw data stored locally. So while you can always back up or inspect your Brain folders manually, you’ll still need to restore your authenticator or contact us for help regaining account access before you can use them inside TheBrain again.

Best regards,

John
