Windows metadb reset #95642
https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/95642
Hello Stephen,
Thank you for reaching out to us. It’s a relief to hear that you’re still able to access your Brain on the Web Client. However, before we proceed, I’d like to confirm - are all the Brains you’ve created up-to-date and properly synced to the Web Client? The steps we are about to follow will help restore the desktop client, but they come at the risk of losing any unsynced local data. Ensuring everything is saved online, or offline via .brz backup, is critical before moving forward.
To resolve the issue, a MetaDB reset should help. Please follow these steps:
- For Windows:
- Navigate to:
C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Local\TheBrain\MetaDB.- Note: If AppData is not visible, enable hidden files by clicking View at the top of the File Explorer window, then selecting Options > View tab > Show hidden files, folders, and drives.
- Locate the file named TheBrainMeta.db and rename it to TheBrainMeta.db.old.
- Restart TheBrain and log in again.
- Navigate to:
Additional Notes:
- Please ensure you’re working in the correct directories while performing this fix.
- Avoid placing Brain files in OneDrive folders, as this can lead to additional issues.
If the issue persists after completing these steps, please send us a fresh log file, and we’ll be happy to assist further.
Thank you for your cooperation and continued support. We appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this issue.
Best regards and happy holidays,
John
