Attachment Path TOO LONG, need trim #98156
https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/98156
Hello Steve,
Thank you for reaching out. The message you’re seeing isn’t a bug in TheBrain, it’s a limit imposed by macOS itself. Both macOS and Windows have a maximum length allowed for file paths. On macOS, that limit is 1,023 characters.
For example, if you had a file located at:
/Users/steve/Documents/MySpecialDocuments/MyNewFolder/VeryLongFolderName/.../MyDoc.txt
and the total length of that path exceeded 1,023 characters, macOS would block it.
To fix this:
- In TheBrain, go to View > Report > By Attachments > Paths to trim.
- This will show you the attachments with overly long paths.
- You can then rename or shorten the folder/file names to bring the total path length under the limit.
Once those are adjusted, your sync with iPad should work normally again.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask. We are here for you.
Best regards,
John
