Hello Matt,

Thank you for your message, and I appreciate you taking the time to test version 15. I’d like to understand the slow performance you’re seeing, because v15 should generally feel faster than v14 once everything is running normally. A delay of 7–10 seconds per action is not expected.

When you have a moment, could you tell me which operating system you’re on and whether the delay happens during specific actions (creating thoughts, switching thoughts, opening notes, etc.)? It would also help if you could reproduce the slowdown once and then send your latest Output.log so I can review what the app is doing during those delays.

Windows log path:

C:\Users[your username]\AppData\Local\TheBrain\Logs\Output.log

macOS log path:

(In Finder) ~/.TheBrain/v9/Logs/Output.log

Regarding creating an orphan thought, the option is still there in v15 but it only appears when you hold the correct modifier keys. In the Create Thought bar, press and hold Ctrl+Shift (Windows) or Cmd+Shift (macOS) while creating the thought, and the orphan option will appear. You can also assign your own dedicated orphan-thought shortcut under Settings → User → Keyboard if you prefer to trigger it directly.

For the feedback form: the in-app Feedback button routes through our forum system, which requires its own login. Some users have a TheBrain account but have never signed into the forums before, so the email will not be recognized until the forum account is created once. Support messages like this one can always be sent directly to us as well.

Once I have your log file, I’ll take a closer look at the performance issue and advise the next steps.
