Thank you for reaching out, and I hope you’re doing well too.

TheBrain 15 might look unfamiliar at first because the interface has been redesigned. Even though the UI looks more modern and web-like, you are still running the full local desktop application when you install the MSIX or EXE version. Nothing is running “in the cloud,” and your data continues to be stored locally unless you choose to sync it.

That said, what you’re describing does sound unusual. You should still see the normal view controls, including the Plex/Notes layout options.

To understand exactly what you’re seeing, may I please ask for:

• A short screen recording of TheBrain 15 from the moment you launch it

• Your latest Output.log so I can check for any UI initialization errors

You can find the log here on Windows:

C:\Users[your username]\AppData\Local\TheBrain\Logs\Output.log

Once I can see what TheBrain 15 is displaying on your system, I’ll be able to confirm whether it’s simply the new UI layout or if something didn’t load correctly during the MSIX install, in the mean time we also have the .EXE install which works well.
