iOS unsafe names Bill #97945

Hello Bill,
Thank you for writing in and for explaining what you’ve already tried. You’re right, the “Data Integrity Scan” option is not available on iOS. This means the scan has to be run on the desktop app instead. We also have a patch coming in an upcoming update that will prevent this situation on mobile devices."
For now, there are a few ways forward:
Option 1 (recommended):
- On your iPad, open the Brain and create a .brz backup archive.
- Import that backup into the desktop app.
- Run the Data Integrity Scan on desktop (File > Utilities > Data Integrity Scan).
- Sync the Brain again.
- Re-download the Brain to your iPad from the cloud.
Option 2 (quick workaround):
- Delete the local copy of the Brain from your iPad.
- Re-download it from the cloud.
- (Please first confirm at https://app.thebrain.com that the latest version of your Brain is safely synced there.)
Option 3 (check attachments):
If you recall the most recent attachments you added, please check that their filenames do not contain special characters. Unsafe characters include:
/ \ : * ? < > | ". Renaming them should solve the issue
If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask. We are here for you.
Best regards,
John
