Resolving unsafe attachment name sync issue #99822
https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/99822
Hello,
Thank you for writing in and for explaining what you’ve already tried.
You’re right that the Data Integrity Scan is not available on the mobile apps, so it needs to be run from the desktop version of TheBrain. We also have a patch in development that will help prevent this situation from occurring on mobile in the future.
For now, here are a few ways forward:
Option 1 (recommended):
• On your Android device, open the Brain and create a .brz backup archive
• Import that backup into the desktop app
• Run the Data Integrity Scan on desktop (File → Utilities → Data Integrity Scan)
• Sync the Brain again
• Re-download the Brain to your Android device from the cloud
Option 2 (quick workaround):
• Delete the local copy of the Brain from your Android device
• Re-download it from the cloud
(Before doing this, please confirm at https://app.thebrain.com that the latest version of your Brain is safely synced.)
Option 3 (check attachments):
If you recently added attachments, please make sure their filenames don’t include unsafe characters such as:
/ \ : * ? < > | "
Renaming them on desktop and syncing again should resolve the issue.
Best regards,
John
