Restoring old brain to newer version using v8 #95586

https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/95586

Hello David,

Thank you for reaching out and for your continued interest in TheBrain!

To restore your older brains, you need to use TheBrain v8 as a bridge to transfer them. Below are the download links for TheBrain v8 on both Windows and macOS systems:

Once you have TheBrain v8 installed, please follow these steps to back up and restore your brain files:

  1. Open TheBrain v8.
  2. Go to File > Back Up to Brain Archive.
  3. Choose a file location where the .brz file will be stored.
  4. Ensure that you select the option “Allow anyone to restore from exported file” to avoid any issues when opening the file later.

The .brz file works like a zipped archive and contains all your brain data. Once the backup is complete, you can open TheBrain v9 (or later) and import the .brz file by going to File > Import. This should allow you to successfully restore and transfer your old brains to the newer version.

If you encounter any further issues or need additional guidance, please let me know, and I’ll be happy to assist you!

Best regards,

John
