TheBrain LOST because auto sync wasnt enabled #98221
https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/98221
Hello Jaime,
Thank you very much for reaching out, I’m sorry to hear about the situation with your lost laptop.
From what you described, it looks like your Work Brain on the older laptop last synced in July 2023. If the main laptop wasn’t syncing to the cloud after that date, unfortunately the newer thoughts and changes wouldn’t be stored on our servers, which is why they aren’t showing up now.
At this point, the best path is to check whether you have any local backups (.brz files) that were created on the lost laptop or saved elsewhere (external drive, cloud storage, email, etc.). Restoring (by importing them) one of those would bring back your more recent work.
If no backups were created and sync wasn’t enabled, we won’t have a newer copy of the Brain to recover.
I know this isn’t the news you were hoping for, it’s always tough when data wasn’t syncing. Going forward, I recommend double-checking that auto-sync is enabled (it’s on by default in newer versions) to make sure your Brains stay protected across devices.
Please let us know if you’re able to locate any .brz backups, and we’ll guide you through restoring them.
Best regards,
John
