Screenshot Attachments and Cloud Storage Limit #101225
https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/101225
Hello Ian,
Yes, pasted screenshots are treated as attachments in TheBrain.
The 100 MB limit applies to the free service’s cloud attachment storage, not to local use of TheBrain on your computer.
So if the Brain is local-only and not synced to the cloud, you can still keep attachments locally. They are not limited by the 100 MB cloud storage allowance in that case, rather limited to how much hard drive storage you physically have.
If the Brain is synced, then those pasted screenshots/images count toward cloud attachment storage. You can still add more than 100 MB locally, but once the Brain exceeds the free cloud attachment storage allowance, those attachments may not all be stored/synced in the cloud unless you have a paid service plan with more cloud storage.
So the practical distinction is:
- Local-only Brain: screenshots can be stored locally.
- Synced Brain on free service: screenshots count toward the 100 MB cloud attachment storage limit.
- Paid service plan: higher cloud attachment storage allowance. https://www.thebrain.com/store
