Brain 15 Uqestion #98929
https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/98929
Hello Tora,
Thank you for your message, and I am glad to hear you are excited to explore TheBrain 15. Yes, you can absolutely keep your current installation of TheBrain 14 and install TheBrain 15 alongside it. Both versions are designed to run side by side on the same computer without interfering with each other.
There is just one important note if you ever decide to open the same Brain in both versions. TheBrain 15 introduces a newer syncing system called Light Sync, which stores attachments in the cloud instead of locally. Version 14 does not recognize Light Sync, so if a Brain is opened in v15 with Light Sync enabled, that Brain will no longer open correctly in v14.
If you ever want a Brain to remain compatible with both versions, please disable Light Sync in TheBrain 15:
In TheBrain 15:
Click the Sync icon in the top right
Open the dropdown menu
Uncheck “Light Sync attachments” and you will be able to open it in v14 again.
For now, since you mentioned that you plan to keep your v14 and v15 work separate and manually transfer text, you can simply install v15 and explore it freely without affecting your v14 installation, just don't open both of them at the same time.

If you have any questions as you begin testing v15, feel free to let me know.
Best regards,
