Resolved Issue with Brains list not showing specific brains + drag and drop crash issue - TheBrain Technical Support #100245
https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/100245
Hello Chris,
Thank you again for sending the logs.
I reviewed this with the team, and the local Brain database appears to be missing or corrupt. We also noticed that your Brains folder is currently here:
/Users/christopherredlich/Documents/Brains
That location may be managed by iCloud Drive or another third party sync service, which can interfere with local database files.
Before doing the reset, please make sure any local only Brains are backed up first.
To back up a Brain:
- Open the Brain
- Go to File
- Select Back Up to Brain Archive
- Choose a safe location for the
.brzbackup file
Later, that .brz file can be imported or restored if needed.
Once your Brains are either synced to TheBrain cloud or backed up as .brz files, please make sure TheBrain is fully closed, then do the reset:
- Open Finder
- Click Go, then Go to Folder
- Enter:
~/.TheBrain - Open
v9 - Open
MetaDB - Rename
TheBrainMeta.dbtoTheBrainMeta.db.old
Then rename the Brains folder:
- Go to
/Users/christopherredlich/Documents/Brains - Rename
BrainstoBrainsOriginal
After that, restart TheBrain. It should start with a clean local setup, and then you can re-download synced Brains from the cloud or import your .brz backups.
After things are working again, we should also move the active Brains storage away from any folder that is being synced by iCloud Drive or another third party service.
You can do that in TheBrain by going to:
- Main Menu
- Settings
- Device
- Storage
- Choose a Brains storage location that is not being synced by iCloud Drive or another third party sync app
Alternatively, you can configure iCloud Drive or the third party sync service so it does not sync the active Brains folder.
Best regards,
John
