Issue resolved hopefully for transparent brain version #95678
https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/95678
Hello again!
Thank you for circling back and including the error report, it gave clarity on the issue.
TheBrain 8 is a discontinued legacy version, and newer macOS releases no longer include the older Java components it depended on. However, there’s still a way you can usually get it running again for viewing or light use.
That error you saw appears because TheBrain 8 relied on older Apple Java components (com.apple.*) that are no longer included in macOS versions starting with Big Sur (11.0) and later. As a result, macOS blocks the installer from writing the required files.
Here’s how to fix it:
- Install the latest Java runtime
- Download and install it from:
- Add the missing Apple Java stubs
- Download the following small file (about 17 KB):
- or https://search.maven.org/artifact/mrj/MRJToolkitStubs/1.0/jar
- Then place the downloaded file (mrjtoolkitstubs-1.0.jar) into this folder on your Mac:
/Library/Java/Extensions
After that, try launching TheBrain 8 again from your Applications folder. It should open normally.
Let me know how it goes 🙂
Best regards,
John
