Creating files from Chat to import to Brain #98626
https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/98626
Hello Paul,
Thank you for reaching out.
TheBrain doesn’t currently support importing custom XML files. The XML structure used internally is proprietary and not open for manual generation.
If you’re creating content externally (for example, via Chat) and want to bring it into TheBrain, you can instead use one of the supported import formats:
- TheBrain Archive (
.brainzip) - Text Outline (
.txt) - Folders
- Obsidian Vault
- Markdown files (
.md) - TheBrain 8 Brain
- MindManager
- FreeMind
Here are the two simplest options for your use case:
Text Outline (.txt):
- Each line becomes a Thought.
- Indentation (using tabs) shows hierarchy.
- Lines starting with
-become notes. - Lines starting with
+become web link attachments. - Add labels using a pipe
|(e.g.Project X | Important).
Folder Import:
- Each folder becomes a Thought.
- Files inside the folder become attachments.
- Subfolders become child Thoughts automatically.
Both methods are flexible and easy to generate from Chat output.
Best regards,
John
