Launching an External Program with Parameters in TheBrain via Batch File #97772
https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/97772
Hello Klaus,
Thank you for reaching out.
While TheBrain can link directly to external files, it doesn’t pass custom parameters to executables when opening them. A simple workaround is to use a small batch file that launches your program with the correct parameters, and then link to that batch file in TheBrain.
Here’s how you can do it:
- Open Notepad and paste the following:
sql
CopyEdit
@echo off
start "" "D:\07 wrkst\wrkst py\TreeV\prod\TreeV.exe" 17
- Save the file as
launch.batin the same folder as your executable:
D:\07 wrkst\wrkst py\TreeV\prod\launch.bat
- In TheBrain, use Attach > Link to File on your Thought and select
launch.bat.
Now, when you open that link in TheBrain, it will run your program with the “17” parameter.
If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out, I’m here to help.
Best regards,
John
