Bob – Math Expression $$ Placeholder and LaTeX Backslash Usage #99697
https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/99697
Hello Bob,
What you are seeing is expected behavior.
When you type $$, TheBrain automatically inserts a sample LaTeX expression as a placeholder. This is meant to be selected and replaced with your own expression. You do not need to undo it. Simply highlight the sample expression and type over it.
Also, for LaTeX commands, you must use a backslash, not a forward slash.
For example, to insert lambda, use:
\lambda
not
/lambda
So the correct flow would be:
Type \(Highlight the sample expression that appearsReplace it with your own LaTeX code, such as \lambdaClose with \) if needed
Here is an example: \(\frac{n!}{k!(n-k)!} = \binom{n}{k}\)
That should render correctly.
Let me know if it still behaves unexpectedly.
Best regards,
John
