01:15:53 - unknown@example.com: Are you having problems or doing maintenance. TheBrain program is extremely slow and continuously freezing up. All other software and internet related items are working fine. I have fiber optic internet so speed is not an issue.;
01:16:13 - ysuratwala@thebrain.com: Hello, thank you for writing in;
01:16:39 - ysuratwala@thebrain.com: May I know which of TheBrain program is slow and freezing up? Desktop or mobile clients?;
01:17:03 - unknown@example.com: Desktop but I have not tried the mobile app.;
01:18:26 - unknown@example.com: Just FYI, I use the web based app since I run Linux on my primary computers.;
01:19:04 - unknown@example.com: This seems to be a somewhat regular occurance. Gets very frustrating.;
01:19:18 - unknown@example.com: {"type":"system_message","text":"[Visitor has minimized the Chat Box.]","subType":"API_EVENT_MESSAGE"};
01:20:41 - unknown@example.com: {"type":"system_message","text":"[Visitor has un-minimized the Chat Box.]","subType":"API_EVENT_MESSAGE"};
01:20:43 - ysuratwala@thebrain.com: Thank you for letting me know. I was going to ask if it were windows or macos;
01:21:56 - unknown@example.com: I do have a Windows 10 laptop that I have TheBrain loaded on but by and large, I have migrated to Linux and avoid Windows unless absolutely necessary.;
01:22:33 - ysuratwala@thebrain.com: Alright, let me take a look into it. And I do understand your frustrations. Windows keeps getting more and more invasive to our data and privacy.;
01:22:46 - ysuratwala@thebrain.com: I am especially horrified about the release of recall ...;
01:24:01 - ysuratwala@thebrain.com: If I may ask, what browser are you using to view the webclient?;
01:24:29 - unknown@example.com: I am amazed that people still use it. There are so many excellent Linux based options out there now. I use Zorin, Debian, POP OS, etc. All are excellent and non-intrusive.;
01:25:09 - ysuratwala@thebrain.com: Brother, just 1 word ... Compatibility ... That is Window's stronghold.;
01:25:50 - ysuratwala@thebrain.com: And we pay a premium for it ... by sacrificing our data and what nots;
01:26:11 - ysuratwala@thebrain.com: Anyways, back to the question, may I know what browser you use to access the webclient?;
01:27:05 - ysuratwala@thebrain.com: The webclient is pretty snappy here at my end, all seems to be fine.;
01:27:11 - unknown@example.com: So true. I am an advisor to our local computer club in SW FL with many retirees. Windows does a great job at making things easy and of course, it comes on a large percentage of new computers. People are lterally afraid to change.;
01:29:16 - unknown@example.com: I am using google at the moment. It also seems to be working well now on my end. I am a long term customer and would just provide some honest feedback. This seems to be a fairly common occurance and then goes away. TB will freeze up and then require reboot to continue on. There is an issue somewhere...;
01:29:35 - ysuratwala@thebrain.com: That is interesting and I do commend your works ... But the tide seems to be changing ... Ever since the linux-based SteamOS hit the market, the lovely penguin sees a rise in popularity. I think its at 5% global. Which is quite huge if we consider a couple of years ago we were at a margin of 1%;
01:32:09 - ysuratwala@thebrain.com: I do have to note, back during December, I believe during the days of 15th to 22nd;
01:32:18 - ysuratwala@thebrain.com: We did a major update to the web client;
01:32:35 - unknown@example.com: You sound like a fellow believer. There are several great distros now. I use Zorin for newbies as it emulates Windows and simply works without issue. POP OS is going to be good but still in testing phase. ;
01:33:17 - ysuratwala@thebrain.com: We had to rollback and forth during the deployment since there were some sync issues etc. we basically upgraded servers and improved the netcode;
01:33:50 - ysuratwala@thebrain.com: If you experienced freezing and crashing during those days, its on us, we deeply apologize, we did make a public statement informing customers about it;
01:34:33 - ysuratwala@thebrain.com: Of course, I am a believer for everything and anything open-sourced;
01:35:04 - ysuratwala@thebrain.com: And yes I have heard about Zorin distro ... Many popular ppl talk about it;
01:36:24 - ysuratwala@thebrain.com: Coming back, if you ever do experience the freezing issue again, please do email us at support@thebrain.com . We will take a closer look into it and update you with our progress :);
01:36:36 - ysuratwala@thebrain.com: For now the client seems fine;
01:36:51 - ysuratwala@thebrain.com: Are your brains, perhaps very large in size?;
01:38:45 - unknown@example.com: Appreciate the feedback re: the upgrade, etc. Hopefully, the results will be improved performance, etc. I will continue to be a customer. I have been a computer user since engineering school in 1975. Windows has gone from the nice new guy to the monopolistic monster. I truly believe that Linux is the only viable alternative that can stop things but unfortunately, folks are too addicted to Windows, MAC, etc. If you are not into computers, I can't say I blame them as their is a bit of learning curve with Linux, etc.;
01:39:10 - ysuratwala@thebrain.com: I use arch linux btw :) but still daily drive windows due to ... compatibility with some softwares that I really need, and gaming hobbies ...;
01:40:38 - unknown@example.com: ...including The Brain. I have talked with others at your place and understandably, a linux based app is not on the horizon. % of users who would benefit is small. The web based version is a suitable alternative since there is no other choice.;
01:41:12 - ysuratwala@thebrain.com: Hey, that is what happens when you take a passionate project and let big, mega, greedy conglomerate corporations take over it. Such is the case with Windows. They always drive to please shareholders and what nots.;
01:43:40 - unknown@example.com: Welcome to America! I have managed serveral companies through my career. I recall the first company I was put in charge. I asked the owner what our mission was and he said "to make money for the owners and shareholders." Not a great mission to take to your employees and motivate them. Anyway, thanks for your help. I shall let you get on with your day! Appreciate your time and honesty.;
