visual indication Suggestion #99507
https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/99507
Hello Sander,
Thank you for taking the time to explain your idea and how you’re using it in practice.
In TheBrain, there are already a few visual cues that indicate whether a thought has additional relationships, even before you click into it. In the plex, the small connection points or “gates” around a thought will appear filled or colored when there are parents, children, or jump links present, which is a quick way to see that there’s more structure attached. Once you select a thought, those relationships are revealed immediately in the plex.
You may also find the Outline and Mind Map views helpful, as they make parent child structure and link relationships more explicit and easier to scan across multiple thoughts at once. In addition, mapped links in the notes area can surface related thoughts and connections in another way. This overview walks through those options:

Your approach of adding icons directly into the thought name is an interesting personal convention, especially if you prefer signals directly in the text field itself. While the existing indicators focus on visual structure rather than labels, it’s reasonable to suggest enhancements or alternatives. If you’d like to propose that idea more broadly, UserVoice is the best place to do that:

Thanks again for sharing how you think about and use the tool. Ideas like this are always useful to hear.
Best regards,
John
