Embedded Browser Sluggishness in TheBrain 15 #101301
https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/101301
Hello Jan Peter,
Thank you for the very detailed report and for attaching the log.
The timestamps and specific log errors are useful. They give us a clear picture of what was happening in 15.0.572 during the slowdown, especially around the embedded web view, Notes editor initialization, and Plex/layout errors.
Since several builds have been released after 15.0.572, I would like to confirm whether the same issue still reproduces on the current stable build. That will tell us whether this was already addressed by later UI/Notes fixes or whether we still have a current embedded-browser issue to escalate with your log evidence.
Please update to the latest build here:
Main Menu > Help > Check for Updates (Should be version 15.0.584)
If the in-app updater does not show the latest build, you can install it directly from:
https://www.thebrain.com/download
You can install it over your existing installation. Please do not uninstall TheBrain or move/delete any Brain data folders.
After updating, please test the same workflow again:
- Enable Embedded Browser for Web Links.
- Open the same Brain.
- Display a web page in the content area next to your notes.
- Try navigating the Plex and switching thoughts.
If the sluggishness still occurs on the latest build, please send us:
- a fresh Output.log captured after reproducing the issue,
- the exact TheBrain version shown in Main Menu > Help > About TheBrain,
- the web page URL or type of page being shown in the embedded browser,
- whether the slowdown happens with any web page or only certain sites,
- and whether turning off Embedded Browser for Web Links still avoids the issue.
You can find the log here:
Main Menu > Help > Open Log Directory
Then attach the file named Output.log.
Your original log is still helpful and we’ll keep it with the case. A fresh log from the latest build will let us compare whether the same embedded-browser/Notes editor errors are still occurring.
Best regards,
John
