Hello Rick,

Thank you for the kind words, and it’s great to hear how you’re using TheBrain in your Assistant Emergency Coordinator work.

Regarding your questions:

PDFs and bookmarking pages

At the moment, TheBrain does not support creating or editing bookmarks inside a PDF. If a PDF already contains bookmarks or a table of contents, you can access those while previewing the PDF by clicking the Table of Contents button on the left side of the PDF preview toolbar, which can help speed up navigation.

If a PDF does not allow text selection, it is usually a scanned document. In that case, you would need to run it through an external OCR tool first. After that, you can either replace the PDF or store the extracted text in a note linked to the attachment.

If PDF bookmarking is something you’d like to see added, the best place to suggest or support that feature is our UserVoice page:

Importing many people from Excel

The easiest way to add a large list from Excel is via text outline import:

  1. Arrange your spreadsheet so each person is on a separate row.
  2. Export or copy the data as plain text.
  3. Format it so each line represents one thought.
  4. In TheBrain, go to File → Import → Text Outline and import the file.

This is much faster than creating thoughts individually, and you can add types, tags, or details afterward.

Thank you again for using TheBrain and for the important work you’re doing with it.

Best regards,

John
