Update to #100319
https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/100319
Hello Charles,
Thank you for checking the file dates.
Since the files appear to be from 2016, they are likely from around the version 8 to version 9 transition period. If the Brain was created in version 9, TheBrain 14 may be able to recognize it once the full Brain data is in the expected local Brain storage structure.
One important clarification: please do not import the old folder as a normal folder import, and do not import only the .db file. That would not properly preserve the Brain structure.
If the Brain is from version 8 or earlier, please use the TheBrain 8 bridge process I mentioned previously:
Download and install TheBrain 8 here:
https://assets.thebrain.com/downloads/TheBrain_windows_8_0_2_2.exe
Open TheBrain 8.Go to File, Open Brain.Choose the old Brain and allow it to load.Once it has loaded successfully, close TheBrain 8.Open TheBrain 14.Go to File, Import, Select File.Navigate to your Brain files.Select the .brain file to import.Let the Brain convert and import.
Please note that the “Updating Icons” step can take the longest during import. It may look frozen for a while, but it should resume after some time.
Since you mentioned that import did not work, please send a screenshot of the folder where the .db files and related files are located. That will help us confirm whether this is a version 8 style Brain, a version 9 style Brain, or if another recovery path is needed.
Best regards,
John
